Rutherford County strongly encourages employees to be prepared for retirement. Rutherford County is a member of the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System. This retirement system provides a pension for retirees. All general fund full-time employees are non-contributory to the system. The County government provides this benefit to its employees without out of pocket expense to the employee. The County contributes a percentage of the employees salary to this retirement system. Please visit the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System website for more information. In addition, Rutherford County offers a deferred compensation plan (457b), similar to a 401k, allowing employees to contribute additional funds towards their retirement. Nationwide Retirement Solutions administers the plan which is sponsored by the National Association of Counties (NACO).
