Animal Control Officer

Department: P.A.W.S. (Pet Adoption and Welfare Services)

 

Starting Salary: $29,468 - $31,641 (Commensurate with Experience)

Job Summary:  The purpose of this classification is to perform general/specialized work associated with providing effective and efficient animal control. Duties and responsibilities include enforcing animal control ordinances and regulations, responding to complaints involving animals, trapping/capturing animals, picking up injured or stray animals, investigating cases of animal bites or animal abuse, performing euthanasia of animals, answering telephone calls and dispatching staff, completing forms and maintaining records, and providing information and assistance.  Reports to Animal Control Supervisor.

 

Minimum Qualifications:  High school diploma or GED; supplemented by 2 months previous experience and/or training involving animal control or animal handling; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license. Must possess and maintain valid Euthanasia Certification. Must possess experience and knowledge in determining animal condition and health and has the ability to handle situations in a professional/tactful manner. Must also possess time management skills, including the capability to work productively in fast-paced environment, keep focus on several tasks at once, and be prepared for interruptions when needed to attend to more crucial matters.  Must be able to effectively communicate knowledge and information to a non-technical audience.  Must possess basic computer skills, including but not limited to word processing, email, and Internet.

Farmer’s Market Assistant

(Part-Time Temporary)

 

Department: 

Agriculture Extension Office

 

Starting Salary: up to $10.00 / hour (commensurate with experience)

Job Summary:  The purpose of this classification is to be responsible for managing the Farmer’s Market operation.  This includes the market day activities from mid April through the end of October as well as the planning and evaluation necessary to sustain a viable market operation for both vendors and customers.  The manager is a good communicator, diplomatic, well organized, and creative with strong organizational and management skills.  A flexible work schedule will be maintained with a requirement of 20-25 hours per week during the market season and only 10-15 during the off season. The market manager answers directly to the Extension Director since the market operation is a (Community Economic Development) component of the overall Extension Program.

 

Minimum Qualifications:  High school diploma or GED; college level course work or vocational training in home economics, agriculture, horticulture, or a related field preferred; supplemented by five (5) months previous experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job; Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee Driver’s license.

Landscaper (Part-Time Temporary)

Department: Agriculture Extension Office

Starting Salary:  up to $10.00 / hour (commensurate with experience)

Job Summary:  The purpose of this classification is to perform semi-skilled work required for the care, maintenance and development of the lawns, landscape beds, street trees, park trees, irrigation systems, and general grounds within an assigned department/division of the County. The employee will perform other related work as required, some of which will be mechanical.  Duties and responsibilities include maintaining/developing grounds and systems, operating/maintaining equipment, performing general preventative maintenance, and performing related tasks. Assignment to Agriculture Extension Office reports to the Agriculture Extension Director.


Minimum Qualifications:  High school diploma or GED; supplemented by basic knowledge about the care and proper use of tools and equipment used in the development and maintenance of lawns, landscape beds, trees, hardscape areas, and general grounds; basic knowledge of proper methods of maintenance, care, and installation of landscape beds, lawns, trees, irrigation systems and general grounds; basic knowledge about turf diseases, plant diseases, insects, chemicals, and the proper methods used to control such undesirable elements.; supplemented by one (1) year previous experience and/or training involving grounds maintenance, equipment operation, and maintenance work in area of assignment; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license. Tasks involving herbicide/pesticide application may require possession and maintenance of valid Herbicide/Pesticide Applicator license.

Title I, Part D Program Coordinator

Department:  Juvenile Detention Center

Starting Salary: $39,060 - $41,950 / Year (commensurate with experience)

Job Summary:  The purpose of this classification is to develop professional correspondence in compliance with Title I, Part D, completing all documentation pertinent to the Title I, Part D  Grant and assisting with the compliance of the Title I, Part D  Standards for the Rutherford County Juvenile Detention Center.  Classification serves as the educational leader of the programs to which assigned, providing direct student support and leadership in areas of curriculum, supervision, evaluation and administration.  Classification establishes procedures providing for health, safety, and behavior of students by insuring a clean, neat, and effective use of the educational facilities.  Carries out programs including community relations, parent involvement while following the Director’s policies, and performs related duties as assigned.  Assigns and coordinates a variety of employees. Classification is to plan, execute, coordinate, and teach material associated with educating/encouraging teenagers to become productive members of society.  Duties and responsibilities include planning lessons; preparing assignments and activities; providing education and instruction to students; counseling students and parents; maintaining discipline; preparing correspondence and reports; maintaining work areas; and performing other tasks as assigned.  Reports to Juvenile Detention Director.

 

Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in Education, or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.  Preferred Grants experience and one to two (1-2) years of experience in working with at-risk youth in an educational environment (or related field).  Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license.

School Patrol Officer

Department: Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department

Salary: $17.00 / hours

Job Summary:  The School Traffic Safety Patrol person is responsible for the safe and orderly flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic within a designated school zone within Rutherford County.  This position is considered part-time and seasonal; therefore, School Traffic Safety Patrol employees do not receive any employee fringe benefits.  The working hours will be determined by the opening and closing times of the school to which the employee is assigned.  The employee will be responsible through the chain of command to the Sheriff.  This position is classified as Non-Exempt for the purposes of the Fair Labor Standards Act as having no significant occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens and as Safety Sensitive.

Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age.  Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.  Must not have been convicted of or pleaded guilty to or entered a plea of nolo contendere to any felony charge or to any violation of any state or federal or city ordinances relating to force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor or controlled substances.

Applicants must be able to work 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon. The hour will range between 7-9 am and 2-4 pm. Applicants will not work more than 10 hours a week.
