Animal Control Officer

Department:P.A.W.S. (Pet Adoption and Welfare Services)

Starting Salary:$30,057 - $32,274 / year (Commensurate with experience)

 

Job Summary:  The purpose of this classification is to perform general/specialized work associated with providing effective and efficient animal control. Duties and responsibilities include enforcing animal control ordinances and regulations, responding to complaints involving animals, trapping/capturing animals, picking up injured or stray animals, investigating cases of animal bites or animal abuse, performing euthanasia of animals, answering telephone calls and dispatching staff, completing forms and maintaining records, and providing information and assistance.  Reports to Animal Control Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:  High school diploma or GED; supplemented by 2 months previous experience and/or training involving animal control or animal handling; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license. Must possess and maintain valid Euthanasia Certification. Must possess experience and knowledge in determining animal condition and health and has the ability to handle situations in a professional/tactful manner. Must also possess time management skills, including the capability to work productively in fast-paced environment, keep focus on several tasks at once, and be prepared for interruptions when needed to attend to more crucial matters. Must be able to effectively communicate knowledge and information to a non-technical audience. Must possess basic computer skills, including but not limited to word processing, email, and Internet.

Veterans Court Service Officer  

Department:Recovery Court

Starting Salary:$30,057 - $32,274 / year (Commensurate with experience)

Job Summary: The purpose of this classification is to provide assistance to military veterans and their dependents by aiding, filing for, and obtaining veterans benefits. Such benefits would be compensation, pensions, education, hospitalization, insurance, loans, and other benefits obtained as a result of service in armed forces. Must stay up to date on laws and regulations regarding veteran’s benefits, thus to provide the most accurate and appropriate documents and service. Position requires visiting and interviewing veteran’s and dependents to determine needs and services. Will prepare formal claims, assist with appeals, maintain files, and prepare monthly and annual reports. Job requires prior service in the armed forces and through knowledge of veteran’s benefits and services. Reports to the Recovery Court Director.

Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Social Work, Social Services, Psychology or closely related field. Must have been an active member of the military and be an Honorably Discharged Veteran with service time during a period of wartime conflict. Within one year of taking office must successful complete the Veterans Administration training course and tests for County Service Officers and annual re-certification required. The for mentioned accreditation process includes quarterly training sessions.  To be eligible for recommendation of accreditation according to Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs (TDVA) you must be one of good character, reputation, and demonstrated an ability to represent claimants before the VA, must be a member in good standing or a paid employee of the organization for it is not less than 1,000 hours.  Must hold a valid Tennessee Drivers license.

Bilingual Interpreter

Department:Health Department Murfreesboro

Starting Salary:$26,087 - $27,999 / year (Commensurate with experience)

 Job Summary:  The purpose of this classification is to perform medical interpreter/translator work in a public health clinic or other related and assigned areas. This position will be part of a multi-disciplinary team facilitating health related communication between medical and support staff and patients in clinic, home and, possibly, other related settings. Interpreter / translator work will primarily utilize both English and Spanish languages. Duties and responsibilities include assisting clinic patients, scheduling patient appointments, obtaining patient information and documentation, determining eligibility for clinic services or TennCare services, preparing patient charts, performing data entry, maintaining patient files/records, processing documentation, answering the telephone, and performing other duties as assigned. Reports to Interpreter Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelor’s Degree in foreign language or related field preferred but high school diploma or GED acceptable; supplemented by 2 years previous experience and/or training involving fluent bi-lingual writing and speaking in both English and Spanish with an emphasis in a health care field; knowledge of interpreting techniques and the profession’s code of ethics; an understanding of the cultural differences of the two languages is desired; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must be able to pass the competency assessment for medical interpreters currently in use by the Tennessee Department of Health. Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license.

Recovery Court Case Manager

Department:Recovery Court

Starting Salary:$31,763 - $34,099 / year (Commensurate with experience)

Job Summary:  The purpose of this classification is to perform specialized / administrative work associated with coordinating activities between the Recovery Court and participants in the Recovery Court Program. Duties and responsibilities include supervising a caseload of adults who are court ordered into the program to assure they follow probationary rules and court orders, monitoring progress during probation, meeting with participants in their homes, performing crisis intervention, teaching life skills to participants,  providing 24 hour support, preparing recommendations and referrals, setting court dates, receiving payments, preparing reports and maintaining records, answering the telephone and providing information, and performing other tasks as assigned.  Report to Recovery Court Coordinator. 

Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or closely related field; supplemented by 6 months previous experience  and/or training involving addiction and criminal behavior; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license.
