 Adoption Specialist (Temp)

Department: PAWS

Salary: $12.00 / hour Commensurate with Experience)

 

Job Summary:  The purpose of this classification is to perform general/specialized work associated with providing effective and efficient animal adoption assistance at the mobile adoption unit site. Duties and responsibilities include assisting the general public at adoption events, cleaning of kennels and cages in the adoption unit, and related spaces in the animal holding areas; feeding and watering animals; supply inventory and maintenance; and the overall care of animals. Documents and responds to all inquiries, service requests, and comments received from the public to provide pertinent information on adoptions, spay/neuter questions, and any other type of general information. Reports to Animal Control Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:  High school diploma or GED; and one (1) year of customer relations experience supplemented by two (2) months previous experience and/or training involving animal control or animal handling; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license.  Must be able to operate a motor vehicle; including the towage of a trailer.  Must possess time management skills, including the capability to work productively in fast-paced environment, keep focus on several tasks at once, and be prepared for interruptions when needed to attend to more crucial matters. Must be able to effectively communicate knowledge and information to a non-technical audience. Must possess basic computer skills, including but not limited to word processing, email and internet.

 HVAC Tech

Department: Maintenance

Salary: $32,715 - $35,122 / year (Commensurate with Experience)

 

Job Summary:  The purpose of this classification is to perform preventive maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting work on air conditioning and heating systems.  Duties include, but are not limited to: implementing and performing preventative maintenance; performing heat load calculations; repairing equipment; Maintaining HVAC controls; and performing additional duties associated with maintenance of county facilities, equipment, buildings, and grounds within the department as assigned by the Maintenance Department including skilled mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and manual workAssignment to Maintenance Department reports to Facilities Director.

Job Summary: The purpose of this classification is to perform clinical/administrative work associated with assisting patients and medical staff within a public health clinic, or other assigned area. Job Summary:  The purpose of this classification is to perform manual work associated with cleaning and maintaining county buildings and conducting various errands. Duties and responsibilities include vacuuming and shampooing carpets, sweeping and mopping floors, dusting furniture, washing windows, cleaning bathrooms, emptying trash containers, ordering and maintaining supplies, running errands, performing general repairs, or performing other tasks as assigned.  Assignment to Ambulance Services reports to Paramedic. Job Summary: The purpose of this classification is to perform security work associated with maintaining the safety, security and welfare of inmates at the Correctional Work Center or Juvenile Detention Center. Duties and responsibilities include enforcing facility rules and regulations, maintaining discipline, processing incoming inmates, monitoring activities and behavior of inmates, coordinating provision of food, medical care and supplies for inmates, providing courtroom and courthouse security, transporting inmates, preparing documentation, maintaining records, and performing other tasks as assigned. Assignment to Correctional Work Center reports to Corporal, Detention. Assignment to Juvenile Detention Center reports to Corporal, Detention.

Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED; preferred basic jailer certification; supplemented by six months of previous experience.  Must obtain and maintain Basic Jail Certification by attending and passing required in-service training, Chemical Weapons Certification, and CPR Certification.  Assignment to transportation duties requires possession and maintenance of a valid Tennessee driver’s license and proof of insurance.  Requires ability to pass Physical Agility test, drug and alcohol screening, and Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI).  Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license.

Animal Rescue & Behavior Specialist 

Part-Time 

Department: P.A.W.S. (Pet Adoption and Welfare Services)

Salary:  $12.00 / hour






Job Summary:  The purpose of this classification is to assist pet owners, staff and volunteers in managing pet behavior problems, especially those in dogs and cats.  The Animal Rescue & Behavior Specialist (ARBS) will provide pre and post adoption training to assist pet owners, staff and volunteers with animal behavior modification, welfare and enrichment exercises by developing and creating programs, protocols and classes.  Also, the ARBS will work closely with Animal Rescue groups so that more animals can be placed into homes.  Assist with adoption interviews to help provide information to the public regarding behavior issues of adoptable animals. Work closely with Supervisor to ensure the highest quality adoptions and customer service experience. Reports to Animal Control Supervisor and PAWS Director.

Minimum Qualifications:  High school diploma or GED; supplemented by 2 years previous experience and/or training involving animal control or animal handling; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.  Must be knowledgeable and comfortable working with animals that have behavioral challenges, enjoy working with adopters and volunteers of all ages and skill level, has experience with training, time management skills, including the capability to work productively in fast-paced environment, keep focus on several tasks at once, and be prepared for interruptions when needed to attend to more crucial matters. Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license.  Must possess experience and knowledge in determining animal condition and behavior and have the ability to handle situations in a professional/tactful manner.  Must be able to effectively communicate knowledge and information to a non-technical audience. Must possess basic computer skills, including but not limited to word processing, email, and Internet.  SAFER training certification preferred.
