Vet Assistant (Part-Time)

Department:     P.A.W.S. (Pet Adoption and Welfare Services)

Starting Salary:  $10.00 per hour
 

Job Summary:  The purpose of this classification is to support the veterinarian in ensuring quality veterinary care for all pets, advocate for pets, educate clients on all aspects of pet health, and ensure a safe and effective clinic environment. The Vet Assistant must be able to pay attention to detail, respond quickly and calmly to crises, and maintain very high standards of patient care. In addition, the Vet Assistant must be able to communicate well with doctors, managers, clients and other vet technicians, showing care and concern for their pets. The Vet Assistant will assist in over all day to day operations of the clinic. Reports to Veterinarian and PAWS Director.

Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license. Must possess experience and knowledge in determining animal condition and health and has the ability to handle situations in a professional/tactful manner. Must also possess time management skills, including the capability to work productively in fast-paced environment, keep focus on several tasks at once, and be prepared for interruptions when needed to attend to more crucial matters. Must be able to effectively communicate knowledge and information to a non-technical audience. Must possess basic computer skills, including but not limited to word processing, email, and Internet.

Law Clerk

Job Summary:  The purpose of this classification is to perform secretarial/administrative work associated with providing support within the Court. Duties and responsibilities include scheduling appointments, opening court, preparing and issuing orders of the court, researching law sources, maintaining records, assisting the public, processing documentation and information, and performing other duties as assigned. Reports to the Judge.

Minimum QualificationsCurrently attending or have completed Law School; supplemented by one (1) year previous experience and/or training involving legal office work, office administration, public interaction, and personal computer operations; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license.

Licensed Practical Nurse

Department: Health Department

Salary:  $30,057 - $32,274 / year (commensurate with experience)




Job Summary:  The purpose of this classification is to perform clinical/administrative work associated with assisting patients and medical staff within a public health clinic, jail clinic, or other assigned area. Duties and responsibilities include assisting medical staff during patient examinations and procedures, administering medications and immunizations, administering therapeutic treatments, reacting to crisis situations, obtaining and preparing laboratory specimens, providing education and information to patients, intervening appropriately in crisis situations, maintaining medical supplies, preparing medication carts, preparing patient charts, maintaining records, and performing other duties as assigned. Health Department assignment reports to Nursing Director.

Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree or Vocational/Technical degree with training emphasis in Nursing; one (1) year previous experience and/or training involving nursing is preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license. May require possession and maintenance of a valid Tennessee driver’s license.

School Patrol Officer

Department: Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department

Salary: $17.00 / hours

Job Summary:  The School Traffic Safety Patrol person is responsible for the safe and orderly flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic within a designated school zone within Rutherford County.  This position is considered part-time and seasonal; therefore, School Traffic Safety Patrol employees do not receive any employee fringe benefits.  The working hours will be determined by the opening and closing times of the school to which the employee is assigned.  The employee will be responsible through the chain of command to the Sheriff.  This position is classified as Non-Exempt for the purposes of the Fair Labor Standards Act as having no significant occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens and as Safety Sensitive.

Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age.  Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.  Must not have been convicted of or pleaded guilty to or entered a plea of nolo contendere to any felony charge or to any violation of any state or federal or city ordinances relating to force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor or controlled substances.

Applicants must be able to work 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon. The hour will range between 7-9 am and 2-4 pm. Applicants will not work more than 10 hours a week.
